Studio Induction
Today, our media class took part in a studio induction. We were taught the different ratios for lighting, how to control a Canon DSLR, alongside a Nikon. In this session we mainly tried to focus on the 4 elements of the camera. These were, F stop, shutter speed. ISO, and white balance. On the basis of lighting, we were taught the 3 points of lights, which is, key light, feel light, and hairline light. The key light is, as the name suggests, the main source of light, this light s usually placed on the left side of the model. The feel light is placed on the right side and it is dimmer than the key light, this light is primarily used to brighten up the focus of image. The hairline light is very important as this light makes the image have a 3D impact, also this separates the model from the backdrop. We were given rough ratios for these lights too. Which were, KL: 3, FL:1.5/2 and HL: 1.5.
